What’s your “Why?”

You’ve probably heard the term “Why?” thrown around a lot in conversations about veterans. But what does “Why?” really mean? Is it just another buzzword or is there something more to it? In this blog post, we will explore the concept of finding your “Why?”, and why it is important for veterans.

What is a Why?

Your “Why?” is your purpose—the reason you get up every day and do what you do. It is the thing that drives you, motivates you, and inspires you to take action. Your “Why?” can be a goal, a value, or an idea that guides your decisions and your life. It should be something that resonates with who you are and what you believe in.

Finding Your Why

For many veterans, finding their “Why?” can be difficult. After all, many veterans have spent years of their lives serving their country and may feel like they have lost sight of what truly motivates them. But it doesn’t have to stay that way! Taking time to reflect on your experiences in the military and how they have shaped who you are today can help you uncover your true motivation for taking action. Ask yourself questions like: What values did I learn during my service that still apply today? What goals do I want to accomplish in my life now that I am no longer in the military? What strengths did I develop while serving that I can use now? By asking yourself these questions and taking time to really think about them, you will start to uncover things about yourself that had been buried under years of service.

Living With Your Why

Once you have identified your “Why?”, it’s important to keep it at the forefront of your mind so that it can continue motivating and inspiring you on a daily basis. This could mean setting reminders for yourself throughout the day or writing down quotes or affirmations related to your “Why?” as a reminder of why it’s important to keep moving forward towards achieving your goals. Additionally, surrounding yourself with people who share similar values or motivations as yours can help keep your “Why?” alive by providing support when times get tough or celebrating with you when times are good!

At its core, finding your “Why?” is about exploring who you are at the deepest level—not just as a veteran but as an individual living in today’s world with unique passions and goals. It takes courage to ask hard questions about oneself but doing so can lead to amazing revelations about yourself and how far you’ve come since leaving active duty. So don’t wait any longer—take some time to reflect on who you are today and start uncovering the answer to one simple question: What is my why?
